Apartment building in Mannheim
The project consists of an apartment building with an expanded attic, two upper floors, a ground floor and a basement with an integrated car park.
The ceiling above the garage has been attached to the reinforced walls of the ground floor.
With regard to the load-bearing inner walls, which had to support the upper floors in reinforced concrete, only the central dividing wall between the two apartments and the reinforced concrete staircase walls were taken into account.
As Mannheim is situated in an “earthquake zone 1” and since the bracing walls were not running evenly through all levels, a seismic load analysis was necessary.
First the horizontal seismic equivalent loads were calculated. Afterwards these loads were distributed according to the respective stiffnesses to the brick walls as well as to the reinforced concrete staircase walls and the elevator shaft walls using the “Windloads WL” program.
The building was entered in the FRILO program “Building Model” and immediately the load calculation, foundations included, was carried out. With regard to the design of structural elements, the data were transferred to the respective design programs.
The reinforcement plans were drawn in Nemetschek Allplan and the final FEM results could be visualised in the CAD system.
