Steps of implementation

The following diagram illustrates the arrangements needed for implementation of the Eurocode parts:

1) Date of availability:

The date on which the CEN delivers the Eurocode part to the standardisation institute.

2) Translation period:

Translation by the standardisation institute into the approved national languages. The maximum time allowed is 12 months after DAV.

3) National Calibration period:

Fixing the NDP within a maximum of 2 years after DAV.

At the end of this period, the national version of a Eurocode part will be published by the standardisation institute, together with the National Annex.

4) Transition period:

During the transition period, both the Eurocodes and the previous National Standards can be used. This period can last for a maximum of 3 years after the publication of the Eurocode part.

5) Withdrawal of the National Standards:

The coexistence period ends at the moment when the standardisation institute has withdrawn all the conflicting National Codes. The member states also have to guarantee that all parts of the Eurocodes can be used in their country without any ambiguity.
